Okay, it’s back to the classroom and I hope you are studying your words, cause if I meet you, I want to make sure we can chat real good.

Wi have it lock – Don’t go thinking we have locked up something or other. Actually this has nothing to do with a lock. What the expression really means is “we have everyting under control’.

Music’s Role in Jamaica’s Inner City Development

The announcement by Prime Minister P.J. Patterson of the government’s major budgetary allocation for inner city development was welcomed. It is also very good to see that this is an initiative for which there is support from the opposition Jamaica Labour Party.

Wayne Wonder at Western Consciousness 2005 photo by Claudette BrownIt was peace and tranquility, with a lot of conscious, entertaining performances from veteran entertainers and the now generation of reggae crusaders at the 17th staging of Western Consciousness inside the Llandilo Cultural Centre, Westmoreland, on Saturday, April 23, 2005. It ended on a sour note, however, with the unconscious performance by closing act, Fantan Mojah.

Whey yuh a pre mi fah? - If you are in Jamaica long enough then you know that we don’t like anyone staring too long at us. Unless you have a good explanation for focusing your stare on that person then chances are you will be asked, ‘whey you a pre mi fah’ which means, why are you staring at me?
