BERKELEY, CA—After a long hiatus of site activity, the new Jahworks.org goes live!
Jahworks.org is an online magazine about reggae music, Caribbean culture, and travel. The site was founded in October 2000 to give readers premier in-depth top quality stories and information about Caribbean lifestyles.
“I was tired of depending on volunteer web developers, since they always have way more to do than they can handle,” states Jahworks.org owner, Laura Gardner. She decided to take things into her own hands and figure out the redesign on her own. “It was a lot of trial and error,” she laughs, “but ultimately it worked out.”
The new site features the same quality content: reggae star interviews, new music, CD and concert reviews, cultural insight, travel recommendations, recipe and restaurant reviews, concert footage, and much more.
In addition, the new Jahworks.org is able to stream video and audio, and has room to grow a social network like Facebook so readers can connect with other like-minded individuals. Contests, a popular feature of the old site, will also come back. “There is room for expansion with this site,” Gardner states, “and it’s pretty easy to navigate for a non-computer person like myself.”
Jahworks.org is a woman-owned business based in Berkeley. To interview Jahworks.org staff, for additional information, or info about contributing content or donating product, please write to info [AT] jahworks [dot] org.
