"Journey to Jah" filmmakers seek funding to finish the project
Directors Noël Dernesch and Moritz Springer have spent over six years on their “Journey to Jah” documentary which follows the journey of two reggae singers - German-born Gentleman and Italian-born Alborosie – on their search for faith and spirituality in Jamaica. The two foreign-born reggae artists found visions of a better world in the faith and rites of an originally black culture: in Rastafari and its counterpart, reggae music.

The International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers, a group of women who represent a global alliance of prayer, education and healing for Mother Earth, is featured in a documentary called “For the Next 7 Generations.” The documentary, which took four years to make, is the story of these thirteen women coming together and their work to protect diverse cultures: lands, medicines, language and ceremonial ways of prayer, and ways to raise children. The film was shot in many locations across the globe – from Africa to the Amazon, Alaska to Nicaragua.

Jeremy Marre’s “Rebel Music”: Bob Marley in His Times
Palm Pictures released Jeremy Marre’s groundbreaking documentary of Bob Marley Rebel Music June 26, 2001 on DVD and VHS. The film had previously aired on the Public Broadcasting System’s “American Masters” series in the U.S. on February 6, 2001, and in a shorter version on Channel 4 in London in the summer of 2000. The following interview with Marre explores some of the differences between the two versions, in particular the BBC’s demand for a “British” voice as narrator, as opposed to the Caribbean narrator Marre used in North America.
Coming Soon: Shottas
Dancehall deejay Spragga Benz and Kymani Marley have signed on to play the lead roles in Cess Silvera’s upcoming urban drama, “Shottas.” The project, executed by Access Pictures, LLC, a Miami-based production company, will also feature appearances by Lennox Lewis, Wyclef Jean and Tyson Beckford, among other top names, soon to be announced.
