[Without Apology Music, WAMD-0911]
Mumia-Abu Jamal’s fight against a racist death penalty is far from over and on December 9th the world unites in an International Day of Action and Week of Activity to stop the death penalty and the execution of Mumia.
“Without Apology: Reggae Free Mumia” couldn’t have come at a better time. This compilation is a main course of liberation roots Reggae by which to rally, followed by some hard-hitting dubs. Don Carlos, Ras Shiloh, Foundation, and Sister Carol are among the many musicians who have donated their songs, with all sales going directly to the Mumia Defense Fund. The liner notes include Mumia’s 1979 inner-view with Bob Marley, a reminder that this is only the most recent chapter in a long history of racism and injustice. The fight to free Mumia is the fight to free all prisoners of conscience, and “Reggae Free Mumia” is a testament to that fight. Check out www.mumia.org for legal updates and events to take part in.
