CD Review: Various, Strictly the Best, Vol. 25

Strictly the Best 25Various Artists
[VP Records]

Some of the biggest dancehall nuggets from last year have been assembled on VP Records’ annual “Strictly the Best” series. Volume 25, which was released in November, continues in the same vein as its predecessors–hype and entertaining.

Almost every song on the 16-track disc represented on local and overseas reggae charts. “Crazy Looks” by Capleton & Moses I, “Dance The Angel” by Harry Toddler, “Girls Time” by Mr. Vegas, “Full Hundred” by Mr. Lex, “To The Point” by Sizzla, “Hunt You” by Capleton, “Truth Hurts” by Elephant Man, “Bad Man Nuh Pet Gal” by Alozade, and “The Business” by General B & Patchy were all chart-toppers on local shores last year.

Elephant Man’s “Replacement Killer,” “Damn” by Beenie Man, “Warlord World” by Bounty Killer, “Ganja Smoke” by Ward 21, Beenie Man’s “Roll Deep” and Mr. Lex’s “Redder Now” are also thrown into the mix to ensure complete satisfaction for the avid dancehall fan.

Chris and Joel Chin serve as Executive Producers on this rather satisfying effort!
